An absurd amount of weapons came with The Final Shape and Episode: Echoes, and nearly every single one seems to have some sort of use case. Especially in the case of exotic weapons, Bungie has absolutely delivered on everything we’ve received recently.
Today, we’ll discuss a weapon that is one of the strongest primaries in the game, especially with its new catalyst: Red Death Reformed.

How to get the Red Death Reformed Catalyst
The catalyst for Red Death Reformed dropped with Act 2 of Episode: Echoes and is obtainable by reaching level 145 on the Episode’s season pass. This reward is also in the free path of the pass, meaning you won’t need to purchase Episode: Echoes to obtain it.
The catalyst adds the following perk to the weapon:
- Helping Hand: Final blows charge this weapon. When the weapon is charged, the next final blow creates a healing burst at your location and leaves a remnant behind that provides restoration to allies.
Upon grabbing the catalyst from the season pass, you’ll need to obtain 700 kills with Red Death Reformed to unlock the perk mentioned above. The Shuro Chi checkpoint in Last Wish is always the quickest way to grind these out, but simply playing the game with the weapon equipped will upgrade it soon enough as well.
The Catalyst adds +27 Range and +18 to Stability. Both of these stats are underwhelming on the base version of Sunshot, making the catalyst a hot commodity, especially for PvP-minded people.

How to get Red Death Reformed in Destiny 2
Red Death Reformed is the season pass exotic for Episode: Echoes. You’ll be able to claim it instantly from the season pass if you purchase Episode 1: Echoes or once you reach level 40 on the pass if you’re a free-to-play Guardian.
How good is Red Death Reformed
Red Death Reformed comes with the following perks:
- Redemption: Final blows with this weapon cure you and increase reload speed; reloading after final blows cures nearby allies.
- Inverse Relationship: When you deal damage with this weapon, it gains increased handling, takes reduced flinch, and movement speed is increased for a short time. When you are at reduced health, this weapon deals additional damage.
The above perks, in addition to the weapon’s catalyst, make it an easy pick in most areas of the game. While it lacks raw strength and ad-clear potential due to its inability to deal AoE damage, Red Death Reformed offers so much healing and consistent stat bonuses that more than make up for it.
As a result, Red Death Reformed is S-Tier in both PvE and PvP.
