Many of Destiny 2’s weapons have considerable amounts of lore attached to them, adding yet another layer of intrigue to new additions that release with each batch of content. Arguably one of the most storied legendary weapons is Saint-14’s own shotgun: Perfect Paradox.

How good is Perfect Paradox
While Perfect Paradox won’t win over anyone who doesn’t already utilize shotguns, the weapon is one of the best to ever release in its archetype.
In PvE, Perfect Paradox is the best Kinetic One-Two Punch shotgun currently available. With a solid set of perks and an origin trait that basically equates to Grave Robber, there isn’t all that much missing from this pick.
As for The Crucible, Perfect Paradox doesn’t turn any heads. While it can roll with a solid set of perks, rapid-fire frame shotguns are found consistently lacking in PvP, making there little reason to farm this weapon.
Perfect Paradox is S-Tier in PvE and B-Tier in PvP.

- Origin Trait: Cast No Shadows
Perfect Paradox PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Corkscrew Rifling |
Magazine | Tactical Mag |
Perk 1 | Threat Detector (also good: Field Prep) |
Perk 2 | One-Two Punch (also good: Trench Barrel) |
Masterwork | Handling |
We’ll begin with Corkscrew Rifling, Tactical Mag, and a handling masterwork for a nice balance of stats. One-Two Punch is the most common pick for the perk in column four, but Trench Barrel is great for clearing majors if needed.
Since Cast No Shadows is so strong as an Origin Trait, the third column perk is up to you. Threat Detector, Field Prep, Pugilist, and Slideshot are the more common picks, but choosing between them depends on your playstyle.
Perfect Paradox PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Corkscrew Rifling (also good: Rifled Barrel) |
Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
Perk 1 | Threat Detector |
Perk 2 | Opening Shot |
Masterwork | Range |
As we said earlier, Perfect Paradox is pretty mediocre in The Crucible, primarily due to its frame. While rapid-fire frame shotguns can kill Guardians in one shot, you need all twelve pellets to hit for the higher half of Resilience levels, making weapons in this archetype extremely inconsistent.
Regardless, to combat this, we’ll try to focus on increasing range via Corkscrew Rifling, Accurized Rounds, a range masterwork, and Opening Shot. To round out the roll, we’ll go with Threat Detector as our pick in the third column.
How to get the Perfect Paradox
Perfect Paradox is a guaranteed drop from Act 2 of Episode: Echoes’ story. After obtaining a single copy of it, it can be focused at Failsafe in the H.E.L.M, as with other Echoes weapons.
Focusing the weapon will cost you 4 Echo Engrams and 3,000 Glimmer, whereas focusing a Reprisal Weapon Engram (which will result in a random Dawn weapon) costs only 1 Echo Engram. We cover all Season of Dawn weapons here.
