While holiday events in Destiny 2 always pique players’ interests with exclusive loot to chase, it can feel devastating to wait a whole year to have the chance to farm gear again. Luckily, Festival of the Lost is here, meaning Guardians have another opportunity to obtain a sniper rifle that’s taken the community by storm the past couple of years: Mechabre.
Today, we’ll cover everything you need to know about Mechabre: how to obtain it, its best perk combinations, and its current spot in the meta.

How good is Mechabre
While Mechabre’s initial release in 2022 generated immense hype from the PvP community, excitement for it has dwindled year after year. Even so, Mechabre remains a solid choice (at least for The Crucible).
In PvE, 72 RPM sniper rifles aren’t that popular to begin with, and Mechabre doesn’t have too many perks on its side to combat its rather lackluster frame. While it’s not entirely void of value here, there’s really no reason to farm for this when better options are available year-round.
Mechabre in The Crucible is a different story. While everyone has their individual favorite sniper to use in PvP, Mechabre wins many over through its amazing feel and solid perks. If you just so happen to have some extra time this Halloween season, snagging a good roll of this sniper rifle won’t be a waste of your time. Mechabre is B-Tier in PvE and A-Tier in PvP.

Mechabre PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Flared Magwell |
Perk 1 | Triple Tap |
Perk 2 | Firing Line (also good: Vorpal Weapon) |
Masterwork | Handling |
When building a roll for Mechabre in PvE, you’ll want to start with what we end up recommending for most god rolls these days: Fluted Barrel, Flared Magwell, and a handling masterwork.
Triple Tap is the clear winner of column one, awarding good accuracy with an extra bullet in every magazine. Your final perk, on the other hand, is dependent on the setting: choose Firing Line for team-based content, or Vorpal Weapon for solo missions.
Mechabre PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Flared Magwell |
Magazine | Accurized Rounds (also good: Steady Rounds) |
Perk 1 | Snapshot Sights (also good: Lone Wolf) |
Perk 2 | Opening Shot (also good: Closing Time) |
Masterwork | Handling |
We’ll start our roll for PvP with a base of primarily handling and range; look for Fluted Barrel, Accurized Rounds, and a handling masterwork. If you find yourself wanting more stability, replacing Accurized Rounds with Steady Rounds is a solid choice as well.
The tried and true combination many players advocate for is Snapshot Sights and Opening Shot. While Opening Shot is pretty easily the best perk in the final column (save for Closing Time, which provides many similar benefits), column three has a newcomer that shouldn’t be ignored: Lone Wolf. While it can be a bit situational at times, its bonuses are generally better than Snapshot Sights’, so it may be worth giving a try.
How to get Mechabre
Mechabre is an exclusive weapon for the Festival of the Lost, meaning you must do Festival of the Lost-themed activities to obtain it. Exchanging Candy, completing Haunted Lost Sectors, and any other questlines will help you get this gun.
On top of that, you will now have the opportunity to obtain ‘Eerie Engrams,’ a new system coming with this year’s rendition of Festive of the Lost. These engrams can be decrypted directly at Rahool, or you can focus them at Eva Levante to get a randomized weapon for 500 Candy or 1000 Candy for a specific weapon, including Mechabre. We cover all Festival of the Lost Weapons here.
