Rite of the Nine has reprised the dungeon weapons from Prophecy, Ghosts of the Deep, and Spire of the Watcher. One of these weapons is, of course, the unique Long Arm Scout Rifle. Here, we will discuss how good it is, what perks are best on the gun, and how to obtain it.

How good is Long Arm?
Long Arm is interesting, but not awfully enticing for players looking to optimise their loadouts. The Arc Scout Rifle also brings more weapons to generate Bolt Charge with Rolling Storm. However, 120 rpm Scout Rifles are best at dealing chunky damage to higher health targets rather than quickly dispatching low HP enemies.
In PvP, Long Arm can dominate at longer ranges, but when weapons like Redrix’s Estoc, Dead Man’s Tale, or even 120 RPM Hand Cannons like Crimil’s Dagger or Igneous Hammer can contest it, there is little reason to use Long Arm. Some may spot Hip-Fire Grip as an option, and while there are good hip-fire boosting exotic armour pieces available on all classes, you may as well use a stronger weapon such as The Last Word. Long Arm B-Tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

- Perk 1: Rapid Hit, Lone Wolf, Dual Loader, Recycled Energy, Hip-Fire Grip, and Subsistence.

Long Arm PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
Magazine | Appended Mag |
Perk 1 | Rapid Hit |
Perk 2 | Dragonfly or Explosive Payload (also good: Redirection or Rolling Storm) |
Masterwork | Handling |
Origin Trait | Gravity Well |
To make the weapon feel as nice as possible, Arrowhead Brake is ideal to boost the recoil direction to 100, and a Handling Masterwork boosts our Handling to 73. Appended Mag is also great, boosting the magazine up to 16 shots.
For perk 1, Rapid Hit is king as it helps manage the awkward reload of Aggressive Scout Rifles. In perk slot 2, you have a TON of options. We recommend Dragonfly or Explosive Payload for general gameplay, but Redirection and Rolling Storm can both find value as well.
Long Arm PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
Magazine | Steady Rounds |
Perk 1 | Lone Wolf or Hip-Fire Grip |
Perk 2 | Explosive Payload or Precision Instrument |
Masterwork | Stability |
Origin Trait | Tex Balanced Stock |
Arrowhead Brake and Steady Rounds, alongside a Stability Masterwork, make Long Arm feel much nicer to use overall, improving the feel of this weapon, which is its main weakness.
In perk slot 1, Lone Wolf is the typical pick, but Hip-Fire Grip is a fun choice that could find value with particular exotic armour pieces. For perk slot 2, Explosive Payload or Precision Instrument are both valid options, and you can ideally settle for either.
How to get Long Arm
The new version of Long Arm is a part of the Rite of the Nine event. It can be attuned for at the event’s social space, increasing its drop chance.
As for actual sources, the weapon can drop from the Spire of the Watcher dungeon, and also has a chance to drop from the chest featured in the social space for 250 Nonary Manifolds. Adept variants of Long Arm can also be acquired through Spire of the Watcher on Ultimatum difficulty. You can find the entire Spire of the Watcher Loot table rotation here.
