Vault of Glass was an amazing surprise for the Destiny 2 community. It was a free raid that also offered some of the best weapons from Destiny 1.
Yet Vault of Glass did even more than that. It introduced a new Master difficulty (which every new raid and dungeon released since also offers) that rewards the most dedicated players with Adept Timelost weapons.
In this guide, we’ll cover all Timelost weapons available today (including their PVP and PVE god rolls) and show you how to farm them.

Destiny 2 Timelost weapons farm: How to get them
Before we go any further…
What are Timelost weapons?
Timelost weapons are exactly the same as Adept weapons. The kind you can find from farming Grandmaster Nightfalls or going flawless in Trials of Osiris.
What are the benefits of Timelost or Adept weapons? They simply offer slightly better stats (via an improved Masterwork) and can use Adept mods, which are superior to normal mods.
Long story short, the term “Timelost” seems unnecessary to me as Bungie could have simply called them Adept…
How to farm Timelost weapons: Weekly Challenges
Timelost weapons are locked behind completing specific weekly challenges that need to be completed in the Master difficulty of the raid. Needless to say, these aren’t easy to farm. But if you put in the effort and find a committed fireteam, Master Vault of Glass challenges are possible.
These are the several challenges available:
- Confluxes challenge: Wait For It…: Sacrificial Wyverns cannot die before beginning to sacrifice at the confluences.
- Oracles challenge: The Only Oracle For You: Players may not destroy the same oracle twice.
- Templar challenge: Out Of Its Way: Defeat Templar without letting him teleport.
- Gatekeepers challenge: Strangers In Time: The Wyvern and Minotaurs that spawn simultaneously must die within 5 seconds of each other.
- Atheon challenge: Ensemble’s Refrain: Each player may only destroy one Oracle per wave.
This guide covers all 5 VoG Master challenges, including strategies, tips, and recommended loadouts.
Ranking criteria
For the record, as much as we tried to keep the above tier list as objective as possible, it’s still based on our personal experience playing the PC version of the game.
If you’re wondering what criteria was used to build this Tier list, these are the main factors I took into account:
- Lethality: The higher the effective DPS and usability, the higher the ranking.
- Consistency: Some weapons may not have the highest DPS numbers, but they are so consistent, they more than make up for their lower DPS numbers.
- Ease of use: Similar to the point above, some weapons are very effective because they are easy to use and don’t require too much skill or setup. This is also rewarded with higher rankings.
- PVE/PVP Performance: High lethality in either PVE or PVP is equally valuable. However, a weapon that is good at both PVE and PVP should rank higher than one that is slightly better on only PVE or PVP.
- Fun factor: Not the most important factor, but it also helps if the weapon is damn fun to shoot with!
If you strongly disagree with some of the rankings here, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.
By the way, what is your personal favorite Nightfall weapon?
