Albeit not as challenging as raids, Dungeons are also considered endgame content in Destiny 2. Therefore, they also reward players with top-tier loot. In fact, some of the top weapons in Destiny 2 come from dungeons.
This guide covers every Dungeon weapon currently available, including Exotic and Legendaries with their PvP and PvE god rolls.

Best Dungeon weapons: Tier list
There are currently 24 dungeons weapons in the game. And unlike classic MMOs, some dungeon weapons are just as good as the best raid weapons in the game:
Name | Weapons | Type | Archetype | Ammo | Element | Requirements | In loot pool? | Rank | Source | Available? | Tier rank | Source ❘ DLC | Final Verdict | Released | Perks |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Eyasluna | ![]() Eyasluna | Hand Cannon | Adaptive | Primary | Stasis | 30th Anniversary | Yes | S › Best | Grasp of Avarice Dungeon | ![]() | Best ❘ S Excels in: PvE + PvP | Grasp of Avarice Dungeon![]() 30th Anniversary | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Outlaw + Headstone PvP God Roll: Rangefinder + Kill Clip ► One of the most popular and beloved weapons from Destiny 1 has returned and it's even stronger than before. Eyasluna offers god-tier stats and an extremely good perk selection that will help it dominate the Crucible. | 30th Anniversary event | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Outlaw + Headstone PvP God Roll: Rangefinder + Kill Clip |
Gjallarhorn | ![]() Gjallarhorn | Rocket Launcher | Exotic | Heavy | Solar | 30th Anniversary | Yes | S › Best | Grasp of Avarice Dungeon | ![]() | Best ❘ S Excels in: PvE + PvP | Grasp of Avarice Dungeon![]() 30th Anniversary | Slot: ![]() ![]() Exotic Perk: "Rounds fired split into tracking cluster missiles upon detonation. Gain increased handling and reload speed when standing near allies. Firing this weapon also grants Wolfpack Rounds to nearby allies wielding non-Exotic Rocket Launchers." ► Despite its slight perk differences compared to Destiny 1, Destiny 2's Gjallarhorn continues its reign as king. Because of its tracking and Wolfpack Rounds in PvP and its perk that buffs nearby allies' rocket launchers in PvE, it's uncommon not to see anyone running Gjallarhorn in most activities. | 30th Anniversary event | Slot: ![]() ![]() Exotic Perk: "Rounds fired split into tracking cluster missiles upon detonation. And with S-Tier perk combinations like Rapid Hit + Firing Line, this already-strong linear fusion rifle easily competes with top picks like Reed's Regret. | Season 17 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit (also good: Clown Cartridge) + Firing Line (also good: Vorpal Weapon) |

Arrows fired through a Guidance Ring release seeking projectiles, which do more damage based on distance traveled. ► Hierarchy of Needs is very unique, and it also happens to be excellent at boss damage. It actually beats Outbreak Perfected and Touch of Malice for the top spot in Primary DPS, making it a staple backup weapon. It does a shedload of damage and still has all the bonuses of being a bow. | Season 19 | Slot: ![]() ![]() Exotic Perk: Precision hits and final blows build Guidance Ring energy. Its ability to roll with excellent perks such as Opening Shot and Perpetual Motion makes Matador 64 a beast in PvP. It is a staple in my Energy slot if I ever need a shotgun, even in the most competitive of environments. | 30th Anniversary event | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Opening Shot (also good: Killing Wind) |

It has all the right perks to excel and can compete in most pieces of content. It also offers lots of versatility. Damage perks, utility perks, the Last Breath has it all. | Season 15 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Subsistence (also good: Demolitionist) + Frenzy (also good: Adrenaline Junkie) PvP God Roll: Killing Wind (also good: Dynamic Sway Reduction) + Rangefinder |

It's the first Special Stasis Grenade Launcher, and it comes with one of the newer Stasis perks, Chill Clip. However, despite the potential nuance that Chill Clip may bring, Lingering Dread doesn't shake up the meta. It is merely another 'pretty good' option. | Season 17 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE/PvP God Roll: Auto-Loading Holster (also good: Ambitious Assassin) + Chill Clip |

Desperado was recently nerfed and is now significantly less potent, but it's still crazy fun in both PvE and PvP. Plus, New Purpose's Stasis element and Headstone can also play an integral part in a PvE Stasis build. | Season 17 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Feeding Frenzy + Headstone (also good: Desperado) PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion (also good: Tunnel Vision) + Desperado |

Its perk selection is rather niche and leans into an add clearing playstyle with perks such as One for All, Demolitionist, and Chain Reaction. | 30th Anniversary event | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Demolitionist (also good: Unrelenting) + Chain Reaction (also good: One for All) |

With the recent buff to machine gun damage and unique perks such as Incandescent and Killing Tally, Fixed Odds is a great choice anywhere. | Season 17 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Field Prep (also good: Feeding Frenzy) + Incandescent (also good: Rampage) |

Remaining invisible grants this weapon increased damage. Hitting a target with this weapon’s projectiles while invisible weakens them." ► While Heartshadow does require you to change your playstyle a bit due to its unique perks and heavy attack, it can be extremely useful in the right hands. Not only are Invisibility and Weaken irreplaceable buffs for PVE, but they also allow this sword to have great synergy with a Void subclass. Plus, Heartshadow is extremely fun to use! | Season 17 | Slot: ![]() ![]() Exotic Perk: "Heavy attacks made with full Sword energy turn you invisible and fire exploding Void projectiles. Plus, its second column is full of tons of S-Tier damage and utility perks, making Unforgiven an easy choice for any Void 3.0 build. | Season 17 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Demolitionist (also good: Feeding Frenzy) + Adrenaline Junkie (also good: Rampage) |

This is one of the top shotguns for PvP players who main Arc subclasses. | Season 15 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Threat Detector (also good: Slideshot) + Elemental Capacitor |
1000 Yard Stare | ![]() 1000 Yard Stare | Sniper Rifle | Adaptive | Special | Void | 30th Anniversary | Yes | A › Strong | Grasp of Avarice Dungeon | ![]() | Strong ❘ A Excels in: PvP | Grasp of Avarice Dungeon![]() 30th Anniversary | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Quickdraw (also good: No Distractions) + Snapshot Sights ► One of the best snipers from Destiny 1 returns. With best-in-class stats and excellent perks, 1000 Yard Stare remains a popular sniper among top-tier PVP players. With a fairly low zoom stat, decent sights, and high aim assist, 1000 Yard Stare offers a great combination of lethality and ease of use. | 30th Anniversary event | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Quickdraw (also good: No Distractions) + Snapshot Sights |
Darkest Before | ![]() Darkest Before | Pulse Rifle | Rapid-Fire | Primary | Arc | Free-to-Play | Yes | B › Average | Prophecy Dungeon | ![]() | Average ❘ B Excels in: PvP | Prophecy Dungeon![]() Free-to-Play | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Surplus (also good: Tunnel Vision) + Rampage (also good: Elemental Capacitor) ► Because Rapid-Fire Frame pulse rifles continue to be strong in PVP, Darkest Before is still a great choice. There are undoubtedly better pulse rifles for both ends of the game, but if you're a free-to-play player in desperate need of a stronger pulse rifle, Darkest Before has got you covered. | Season 15 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Surplus (also good: Tunnel Vision) + Rampage (also good: Elemental Capacitor) |
A Swift Verdict | ![]() A Swift Verdict | Sidearm | Precision | Primary | Void | Free-to-Play | Yes | B › Average | Prophecy Dungeon | ![]() | Average ❘ B | Prophecy Dungeon![]() Free-to-Play | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Killing Wind (also good: Surplus) + Rangefinder (also good: Kill Clip) ► A Swift Verdict is part of a fairly unpopular archetype: Precision sidearms. There are more lethal options out there, namely lightweight sidearms. Still, if you happen to land a god roll, this weapon can certainly compete in 6v6 PVP modes. | Season 15 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Killing Wind (also good: Surplus) + Rangefinder (also good: Kill Clip) |
Judgment | ![]() Judgment | Hand Cannon | Adaptive | Primary | Solar | Free-to-Play | Yes | B › Average | Prophecy Dungeon | ![]() | Average ❘ B | Prophecy Dungeon![]() Free-to-Play | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Demolitionist + Adrenaline Junkie (also good: Timed Payload) ► Considered underrated by a small portion of the community, Judgment does have some interesting perk combinations that can't be found on many other Hand Cannons. While this gun has found its small place in the game, it's hard to rank Judgment too high because of all the other amazing options. | Season 15 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Demolitionist + Adrenaline Junkie (also good: Timed Payload) |
The Long Walk | ![]() The Long Walk | Sniper Rifle | Aggressive | Special | Solar | Free-to-Play | Yes | B › Average | Prophecy Dungeon | ![]() | Average ❘ B | Prophecy Dungeon![]() Free-to-Play | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Clown Cartridge + Firing Line PvE God Roll: Killing Wind + Snapshot Sights ► While not a bad sniper rifle on paper, The Long Walk is just eclipsed by vastly superior snipers. Frankly, you're better off just farming community favorites such as Uzume RR4 or Beloved. | Season 15 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Clown Cartridge + Firing Line PvE God Roll: Killing Wind + Snapshot Sights |
Hoosegow | ![]() Hoosegow | Rocket Launcher | Adaptive | Heavy | Arc | Free-to-Play | Yes | C › Weak | World loot pool | ![]() | Weak ❘ C | World loot pool![]() Free-to-Play | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Auto-Loading Holster + Cluster Bomb ► Notorious for being one of the weakest yet most common drops in the Prophecy dungeon, Hoosegow has never been a go-to choice for the community. Like many other lacking rocket launchers, Hoosegow will likely fail to become meta unless it gets a perk pool refresh. | Season 11 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Auto-Loading Holster + Cluster Bomb |

However, with The Messenger and others dominating PVP and Collective Obligation and Veles-X excelling in PVE, it's not worth going out of your way for Premonition anymore. | Season 13 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvE God Roll: Feeding Frenzy + Rampage |

It still isn't a horrible choice for the Crucible, but there are so many better fusion rifles right now that there isn't a point in running this one. | Season 17 | Slot: ![]() ![]() PvP God Roll: Quickdraw (also good: Well-Rounded) + Moving Target (also good: Backup Plan) |

These are the different Tier levels used for this tier list ranking:
- S Tier – Best: Highest ranking weapon types.
- A Tier – Strong: Very strong weapon types, but not on the same level as S Tier Choices.
- B Tier – Average: Decent choices that can be lethal in the hands of a skilled player.
- C Tier – Weak: The middle of the pack, somewhat mediocre.
- D Tier – Worst: Lagging behind the competition, these don’t have much to offer.
The list starts with the S Tier and moves down from there.
Destiny 2 Dungeon weapon farming: How to get them
Farming dungeons for unlimited loot is easier than you think. All you need is a committed Fireteam and a couple of hours ahead of you.
Farming newer dungeons
This is how you can go about farming both Prophecy and Grasp of Avarice dungeons:
- Go through the dungeon on your first character until you reach the encounter you want to farm.
- Start the encounter and wipe (i.e. die without beating it).
- Ask your Fireteam to wait. Change characters and log into a character that hasn’t run the dungeon that week.
- On that second character, join again your Fireteam.
- Wipe again. Now your second character has the proper checkpoint.

Prophecy’s first encounter
And that’s it. You can now farm that encounter ad nauseam until reset! To continue farming, you need to:
- Launch the dungeon using your second character (the one that is holding the checkpoint).
- Change characters and rejoin your Fireteam on your first character.
- Complete the encounter for loot.
- Exit the dungeon, switch characters again, and repeat Step 1.
This is how you can technically farm a dungeon.
These loot tables cover exactly what items can drop from every encounter:
Farming older dungeons?
Up until recently, farming older dungeons (Shattered Throne or Pit of Heresy) was impossible. Just as older raids, these could only be completed once per character per week.
But Season of the Haunted (S17) introduced a Raid and Dungeon rotation. Every week, a different raid and dungeon are part of the weekly rotation, which means they become fully farmable, on top of also offering a Pinnacle reward each. This page covers the weekly Raid and dungeon rotation in depth.
Ranking criteria
For the record, as much as we tried to keep this list as objective as possible, it’s still based on our personal experience playing the PC version of the game.
Finally, if you’re wondering what criteria was used to build this Tier list, these are the main factors I took into account:
- Lethality: The higher the effective DPS and usability, the higher the ranking.
- Consistency: Some weapons may not have the highest DPS numbers, but they are so consistent, they more than make up for their lower DPS numbers.
- Ease of use: Similar to the point above, some weapons are very effective because they are easy to use and don’t require too much skill or setup. This is also rewarded with higher rankings.
- PVE/PVP Performance: High lethality in either PVE or PVP is equally valuable. However, a weapon that is good at both PVE and PVP should rank higher than one that is slightly better on only PVE or PVP.
- Fun factor: Not the most important factor, but it also helps if the weapon is damn fun to shoot with!
If you strongly disagree with some of the rankings here, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section. By the way, what is your personal favorite?
