Episode: Heresy is off to a great start so far. With new weapons galore, interesting new perks, a fun activity, and one of the best starts to a seasonal story in Destiny 2 history, there’s very little to dislike.
Today, we’ll cover one of the many new weapons to enter the game’s sandbox with this update: Anamnesis.

How good is Anamnesis
While bows continue to be relatively niche picks in most situations, Anamnesis thrives due to some recent buffs.
For PvE, this bow can be turned into a mini-Le Monarque with Dragonfly and the newly-buffed Destabilizing Rounds. Sure, this won’t replace the bread-and-butter picks of Sunshot and Khvostov anytime soon, but Anamnesis easily excels at longer ranges in tandem with a strong Void build.
In The Crucible, Anamnesis isn’t exciting anyone, save for a couple of bow users. Unless you’re already consistently finding enjoyment or success with bows, Anamnesis isn’t something you need to go out of your way to farm. Anamnesis is A-Tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

Anamnesis Perks & God Rolls
The Anamnesis Void combat bow can roll with the following perks:

- Origin Trait: Willing Vessel.
Anamnesis PvE god rolls
PvE Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Bowstring | Elastic String |
Arrow | Fiberglass Arrow Shaft |
Perk 1 | Repulsor Brace (also good: Dragonfly) |
Perk 2 | Destabilizing Rounds |
Masterwork | Handling |
We’ll begin with Elastic String for significantly decreased draw time and slightly increased handling. From there, Fiberglass Arrow Shaft is great to balance out the significant amount of accuracy we lost from Elastic String, while a handling masterwork rounds everything out nicely.
The most obvious (and potent) roll here is the classic combination of Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds. After its buff with Heresy’s launch, Destabilizing Rounds is a monster on any weapon that can roll with it. If you want to instead embrace the explosion fantasy a bit more, replacing Repulsor Brace for Dragonfly isn’t a horrible choice in more casual settings.
Anamnesis PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around | |
---|---|
Bowstring | Natural String |
Arrow | Straight Fletching |
Perk 1 | Successful Warm-up |
Perk 2 | Sword Logic |
Masterwork | Accuracy |
Natural String, Straight Fletching, and an accuracy masterwork all contribute to accuracy, stability, and handling, three of the most important stats for The Crucible’s sandbox.
While Successful Warm-up and Sword Logic both have kill requirements to activate, they’re our top picks here because of how potent they are. Plus, Anamnesis’ perk selection is inherently geared towards PvE, making viable PvP perks few and far between.
How to get Anamnesis
As all Heretical weapons from Episode 3, you can obtain the Anamnesis from all Heresy activities, most notably the new Nether activity. We cover all Heretical weapons here.
Additionally, you can focus the weapon at the Tome of Want for an additional cost by using Scriptures, making it worthwhile to gather materials to get your hands on a good roll of this weapon.
