Path of Exile 2: Place the relic on the Altar

by | Dec 27, 2024

I usually don’t write quest guides. There are too many out there already. Yet the Ancient Vows quest deserves an exception… Most steps are straightforward, yet the step involving placing the relic on the altar is so poorly explained, I had to step in…

This is how you complete the Ancient Vows quest by placing the two Relics on the altar.

How to complete the Ancient Vows Quest (and fix current the bug)

Step 1: How to Find the Kabala Clan Relic

The first Relic can be found on Keth. Just travel there using the Desert Map on the Caravan and slay monsters until you find the Kabala Clan Relic.

This relic will be required when you reach the step “Insert the Kabala Clan Relic.”

Step 2: How to Find the Sun Clan Relic

The second Relic can be found on the Mastodon Badlands. Travel there using the Desert Map, then find the Bone Pits. Slay some more monsters until you find the Sun Clan Relic.

This relic will be required when you reach the step “Insert the Sun Clan Relic.”

Step 3: Place the Relic in the altar that you found

This is the part most people get stuck on. Not because it’s difficult but simply because it is unbelievably unintuitive. Head over to the Valley of Titans and find the altar.

There, you’ll need to:

  1. Open your inventory
  2. Drag the first Relic to the slot that appears above the Altar
  3. Drag the second Relic to the slot that appears above the Altar

If, like mine, the slot disappears as soon as you open your inventory, press ALT so the slot remains visible!

And there you have it; the quest is complete. It is unknown whether this mission is difficult to do due to a bug or because Path of Exile 2 is still missing enhancements in terms of UI.
