Destiny 2 is all about chasing the latest and greatest loot. And for that reason, you can expect new weapons and armor to grab all the headlines at the launch of a new Season or DLC.
We will help you keep track of all the new shiny loot, focusing on the most sought-after items in the game: Exotics. And if you’re interested in slightly older Exotics, our Exotics Tier list covers every Exotic weapon available in Destiny 2.
Season 20 Exotic armor
Every new season comes, in general, with a new piece of Exotic armor per class (full expansions, such as Lightfall, tend to include two pieces of armor per class). These are the Exotic armor pieces released with Lightfall and Season of Defiance (S20):

Exotics deep dive
Cyrtarachne’s Façade (Hunter Exotic Helm)
After grappling, this Exotic helmet gives extra protection as Hunters gain body armor (only body, head still vulnerable) and flinch resistance.
See through the fear and close the gap, Hunter. The Weave will strengthen your defenses and steady your nerves.
Abeyant Leap (Titan Exotic Legs)
When Titans use their Barricade, it gives extra armor to its wielder and spawns two additional seeking projectiles that track targets aggressively and suspend them.
A Titan’s control of the battlefield is absolute. Suspend your rivals and bolster your armor as they patiently await your permission to stand.
Swarmers (Warlock Exotic Legs)
This new Exotic leg armor allows Warlocks to create Threadlings to infest and attack enemies after destroying a tangle.
Warlocks understand nothing is ever truly created or destroyed. Reshape the Weave, reveal the Threadlings, and infest your enemies.
Year 4 Exotic armor
While it was disappointing that no new Exotic armor was released last season (Season of the Seraph), we received a fair amount of new exotic pieces during the year of The Witch Queen DLC, otherwise known as Year 4 of Destiny 2.

How to get the new Exotic armor in Destiny 2
Exotic armor can be obtained either from Exotic engrams or by completing Legend/Master Lost Sectors solo. Note that the Season pass offers several Exotic engrams. Xur also sells a single Exotic engram per weekend.
There isn’t much more to say about Exotic engrams, only that they have a higher chance to drop from end-game activities. If collecting exotics is your priority, Nightfall: The Ordeals are for you. And the higher the difficulty, the higher the chance of getting one.
Lost Sector farming
If you’re looking for new Exotic armor specifically, those can only be farmed by completing Legend and Master Lost Sectors solo on specific days (Lost Sector rewards are on a daily rotation, one day will reward Legs pieces, the next day only Arms pieces, etc). You can read more about how to farm Legend and Master Lost Sectors here.
Before you go…
Not all Exotic armor was created equal. In spite of Bungie routinely buffing and nerfing specific Exotics every Season, some will always be superior. Some are definitely more worth farming than others. To help you figure this out, we recommend checking our Warlock, Titan, and Hunter Exotic tier lists.
